I can't imagine what they spent on it, but its a laundry list of my wishes and dreams.

It started life as a standard twin turbo diesel V8 200 series land cruiser.

That could not have been cheap. But I'm very impressed.

I've been on the fence about the 200s. Are they becoming more accepted or catered to?

There is actually a pretty decent support for the 200. Nearly as much support in the aftermarket as the 80 (just not as much DIY). You can choose from suspension lifts, bull bars, lockers, etc. I dig on the 200 but obviously not the price.

Yeah, they are certainly cost prohibitive at the moment. Although I recently found a 2006 100 series by me with 34k miles that the dealer wanted $40k for. Even crazier, apparently it sold for $38k a few days after being listed.

the late model 100's (especially with low miles) are holding their value like nobodies business. I thought about trading the 80 for one with a 5 speed but after seeing the prices...NOPE

I bought my 04 for $19,500 and the finance manager couldn't figure out why. I simply could not find an 03-04 in decent condition for less than $19k. Compared to the prices I'm seeing I feel I got a fair price. It just kills me that an 06 would go for that much, you can get a 200 with under 100k miles for the same price.

my finance manager (my wife) was equally confounded I would spend $6500 on a car with 220,000 miles.

I'm insanely picky with most things and since its my only vehicle, my wife pretty much lets me get what I want (within reason. she flat told me no when I told her about the 2006). I did rely upon reliability statistics when making my case though.
